Bringing some life back to a old 10 meter :D
 

Picked this boat up a month or so ago, 1984 33 10 meter fountain, decided to toss the big motors we had for the 32 into this one. Of course it was in need of a repaint, not sure what the previous owners were after, but def not my style LOL. So that was first. Have it at my buddies shop where my father, a friend, myself will be doing all the prep, body and paint work. On a side note the boat has been to have the bottom blue printed, converted to B1's with raised X's, new transom, stringers. Cabin has been gutted, just a set of seats down below. Looking at it now with the B'1s on it they could have got away with a full staggered set up( would have been tuff) None the less still hoping to run around 100 or so with our 750's. Going to do the boat in ALL WHITE. I love all white boats, they just look clean, mean. Not to mention we do not have a ton to toss into a wild paint scheme.. On to the pics. It would seem, the last people who painted the boat, rushed the prep. A ton of paint pops, that actually started under the primer and all. Thought it might have been from sitting in water, but the bottom is fine, these seem to be all over, esp on the right side. Managed to get both sides sanded by my self in about 3 hours. Gona take the rub rail off tom, take care of that area, then pull the gimbals and K planes ect off. Will do my best to keep this updated. Hope we can bring her back, run the hell out of it :evilb: Thanks for looking. :drink:

Those little round spots could have been water or oil in the air line when they applied the first or second coat of primer, what was tiny little specs leached outward and caused what you have there. Sand them back as far as you can, you can never trust anything to cover them up.

That was something that certainly could have been possible, crossed my mind. A fish eye that never fish eyed. hahah. I was thinking also that it was just dirty, they did not wipe the hull down very well before paint. My fingers are crossed, hope we can turn out a NICE finish. But this is also not our first rodeo, LOL

Well got a little bit further today. Managed to get the rub rails off( a pita I mite add, tons of through bolts) haha, any way, cool thing I noticed is that this boat has had the deck and hull bonded together) Not sure if they all had it done, havn't looked to see if my 32 is like that, or really paid any mind to any other ones. But if it has been done, this boat was built to have the **** ran out of it:evilb: Tom I will hopefully be able to get started on getting the assemblies off. They are stuck on there pretty good. Any tips to getting SOB's off other then a BF rubber hammer? Also my buddy snatched this pic. Possible my favorite shirt ever. :lolhit:

What paint will you go with? I would personally go with Awlgrip. Doesnt fade for years and has a brilliant shine.

The pix show a really nice job of how they glassed the hull & deck...Bullet proofing is a necessity for a wave crusher!..Are you going to keep it old skool (paint) colors?..........keep up the great work!

I think I have decided on going with awl craft( same as awlgrip) but my buddy( where the boat is at) that has done ALOT of boats says that the craft is easier to spray, both made by the same folks. I have seen boats that he has done with the craft, in years past that still shine awesome. was going to go with PPG concept or possibly Imron, but I think ima go with the awlcraft. Thanks. It does seem that anywhere I looked the bonding seemed to be really good, neat. I am happy esp since the boat is a almost as old as me LOL. As for colors, going to go ALL WHITE, Going to do the vents in the blue they are, as it matches the interior accents. Thanks all, again I will keep the thread posted as good as I can on this. I love the lines on our 32 but this has THE LINES I like :drink: Not gona try to set any records, but hope to surprise a few people :D
