Stan Irwin sounds like quite a guy, that sure is a good looking motor in your avatar Charlie. I'm guessing it's a 496ci -- circa 650 hp?? So was he an independant engine builder, or did he work for Kiekhaefer doing the serious race stuff?

Been working on the guy ever since and he gave them up last week and according to tracking they should be here tomorrow. Did I mention I picked up a 427 tall block last week also? Building a clone 482 (really a 496 because boring the cylinders) to match the last one so I can dump both in the Nova. Also from what I understand the Nova 24 was made from a 7 meter Donzi hull and a Cary deck. The 7 meter not being long enough and the Cary deck being to big there was some saws involved. |

From what I understand Keikhaefer offered "build kits" to a few. That's why I found the rods I did in the mid-west that have never been used. I've also seen a few parts with the name ground off. I figure these were parts for racers that were not under the Keikhaefer banner and maybe shouldn't be using the competitions parts but when you need the best at the time you take their parts, alter them (by grinding the name off) and call them your own. .

So Gene, how did you get involved with Doc Magoon and the KAM boats? Were you working for Stan Irwin?
