That's gotta be rare. Very cool.
Help me out here but if that was properly restored, would it be worth big bucks or is it just another boat with classic appeal to powerboat fans? I.E. Sentimental value and pride of ownership.

----There have been many guesses as to how many 28 Barons were built. I have been following them since 1970 when a friend who lived near me on Cape Cod got a brand new one, and I can say with conviction that there were more than eleven Barons built. I know of more than eleven that I can count right now. Not that the #s are high. Probably more like 25 or so, and that's not counting any of the ones supposedly sent overseas. If I wasn't knee deep in projects I would be making a call right now about this one.......Bill S

Back in the mid 70's there were 4 of these Barons on lake St Clair, The Grinder, Super Moth, Killer & Sitting Duck,, again just on our lake alone. Last year @ the OFF reunion @ Lake Dora I talked to Sammy James about the 28' Barons as he worked at Bertram back then & said around 30 were made. Here are some pic's of Bertrams that I have pic's of. There also was a company called Outlaw Marine [white hull] that made a knock off Baron here is a pic of it. Olredalert & I found & bought the Super Moth Baron a few years ago, but we knew the right thing to do was returned it back to the family that raced it in the 70's, it's now in restoration. They are a very cool classic worth restoring.

The Killer Bertram was Sandy Black's pink race boat, but it was Phil Lewis's original NEEDLE NOSE Bertram. Unfortunately the Killer Bertram & many Magnums were lost in the fire @ Emerald City Harbor around 1975
