Thanks Mike! Hope you were piloting the winning vessel! If not, can you answer the question about HIN's?

My 1972 Allmand has a HIN # but it is a metal tag and not something cast into the boat. Its the only 1972 that I have saw that has a factory number. The rest just had a state issued number on the title. Like my 1959 Biesemeyer made in Arizonan with a FLA (Florida) HIN number.

For what it's worth, there was indeed another boat made with that hull and deck in the 70's - I've got a pic of the ad for them somewhere. Hull and deck are identical, but it has a flat hatch as I remember, not a raised one like the cigs. So finding one with a missing or modified hatch, or flat hatch is the only thing I would worry about.

Cig 20's with the raised hatch didn't start until somewhere in the mid to late 70's. My '74 is all Cig and has a flat engine hatch. The HIN should be molded into the transom on the upper starboard side.

Raised hatch was for big block.

Ok - good to know. But there was another boat made with the hull/deck combo - The 1974 Glaspar "Don Twenty". (found my pics). Considering it's not unusual for early 70's boats to NOT have VIN's on the transom, might not be hard to try and pass one of these off - depending on how they were layed up, and the knowledge of all involved, etc. Not sure of the years they were built.

They started HIN # in November 1972 and those were 1973 model year boats from Cigarette. Matthew knows lots of cool facts about Don Aronow boat brands history.
