I need a bit of help from the old guard please.

I have found a boat that I am interested in buying, great lines but NO info online, other than this mention in the Jan-May 1971 of Boating, with a short mention on this particular model, perhaps just manufactured in 1970 and 1971

It is a Maritime 26, cruiser model, with a bow cockpit and a nice cabin.

It was manufactured by Maritime Alliance Machine Co located at 700 W 83 Street, Hialeah, FLA 33014.

Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

I had a 21 ft Maritime, 1966 or 1968. It started life as a race boat then became a workout for a local marina. I bought it and used it as a dive boat for many years. Great boat, welded aluminum, the bottom was basically a deep vee with two shallow (small) sponsons. Great ride in rough water. Looking back I can't believe some of the water we took that boat in.

Hi Cig3, I've known of fiberglassics.com since he started the page, great source of info, but not of any use in this case.

Padraig, it sounds you had a Prince Edward model, an aluminum deep vee hull, except the "standard" model was 18'3", hence you probably had a variation of that model, perhaps as you mentioned, one that started life as a race boat.

But you see, the "common" Maritime boat that people think of, is a welded aluminum model built in Alliance, Ohio, the boat I am interested in is a fiberglass boat, built by a subsidiary of Maritime, based in Hialeah (Miami, FL), probably a very short lived proposition, since almost no info is found anywhere.

I need the "old timers" to participate and give me some input, anyone that worked in the boating business in Miami in the late 60's and early 70's, someone probably knows and/or remembers something about Maritime presence in Miami.

This boat was produced when Merrick Lewis owned Maritime, Thunderbird and Formula, even thou, to be precise, it was manufactured right when he sold Thunderbird and Formula to a company named Fuqua (in 1969)
