1968 Nova Marine Nova24 Hull #13
Hi y'all,
I'd like to introduce Maneki-neko (Lucky Cat). The irony of her name and her hull number should give Poseidon a good laugh
Most of my time so far has been doing research. Talked to Mike a bit over at Supernova24.com. Thank you for the info.
So far she needs a minor bit of cosmetics done, wash & wax. Needs a new SB motor starter (on order), port trim motor, port blower, port bilge pump, tanks cleaned, a lot of sweet talk and a little bit of elbow grease.
Her port motor cranked right over as soon as the key was turned. SB will need some love but not much. stern drives seem to be in good shape. I haven't started her up yet. The tower has GOT to go!
Steering in good order and generally you can slide across her hull like it was ice. Transom, deck and glass in decent shape too. Found her in a warehouse south of Tampa, Fl.
I did have some questions though. Maybe someone might know?. I'd love to find out the month of her incarnation. Her HIN is the run number. It predates HIN standardization
Did Brownie make a '24 with twin V.P. AQ170B's mated to a pair of Chrysler Marine 270 drives? or were all the production builds done with H&M's with V drives. I think I read somewhere that the B30/AQ170's came out in '68. The same year as the boat. Maybe this was a post H&M refit?
Anyway, I can't wait to get her done and on the water!

Ugh after searching around I found the serial plates in the bilge bottom. Both are 1972 AQ170B's. It's ok, I still luv them lol.
No I hadn't thought to message Brownie yet. I don't know his handle. Was sort of hoping he'd see this and chime in

Hi Brownie! It's very nice to hear from, as phragle put it, "Thee Pimp!" lol I'd say more of a Badass Genius.
Thank you for building such a gorgeous boat. She'll be well cared for
I'd love to switch out the AQ170's for the original H&M's and put her back to the way she should be. If you have a line on any motors, please let me know.
One thing that puzzles me. There's an old stopwatch bolted onto the helm below the wheel. I look at it a lot wondering about it.
