Looking for old race boats
They must be at least 15 years old and have actually raced in any sanctioning body races. Here is what we have so far from our FaceBook page. They will be going up on the HORBA website in a few days. Please add what you know is out there. Thanks

Are you all going to list owners, location (state maybe), condition, if its for sale, contact info, stuff like that? I own Raceboat.org and was thinking of using it to start like a Craig's list of some kind for race boats or something like that but didn't have enough boats to go with it.. You always see people looking for this boat or that one and over the years I have run across a ton also. If someone knew where to find them (like maybe in their own state) there is a better chance someone will restore them. It shocks me that people haven't snatched them all up. Just think if it was legal to buy Tony Stewart's stock car like it raced and drive it on the street. Hell I even got mine together and couldn't afford real race motors so I stuck two Gen V 454's in it for a couple years (I called them my show motors) and still won awards for it just because it was what it was. I did everything my self but mine went from sitting under a car port for 25 years stripped to on the water for less then 12 grand.

Sorry....I will stop now. YES, we are going to list boats from both here and all over the world. It is up to the owner's if they want their name or want to be identified at all. Hello , I currently own Bob Kaiser's old 40' cougar and am considering listing it for sale. This is the boat had the Excalibur, Gentry eagle and a systems paint scheme. It was built in 1989 and raced through 1994 I believe. It is currently located in south Florida. I can supply photos of its current condition if you have an email.

we just finished the restomod on the 35 Cigarettte CONSPIRCY / MIGHTY MOUSE / AMERICAN EAGLE. 38 Scarab MR. TERRIBLE / EAGLE ONE is in VEGAS. 38 SCARAB SATISFACTION is here in CA. The GENTRY TURBO EAGLE is the first 46 SCARAB built here in CA. 43 SCARAB number 5 Boat is here at my shop SCARAB THUNDER / GENTRY / DIETRITE COLA.

I am in Miami at the Boat Show until Monday......and will update when I get back.
As far as the F2 boats, get more info. When did they race, what sanctioning body, drivers, crews, names on boats etc and they will go on the list. We are trying to find as many old race boats as possible and then we will start putting them in categories from old school long races ......like the Bahamas 500 races and the Long Beach to San Francisco race of 489 miles and the Around Long Island race of 271 miles .......up to current races like Key West style races. And everything in between. Keep them coming, rather have a maybe, than miss out on one altogether. |
I'll try ^^^ hopefully some others will chime in who were part of this when it was going on, ( Tank ) ( LS JR ) ( Tres Martin ) my boat was owned by Dick Simon and he and Sean Stinson raced the boat during the 2000 season from what I have read.

Here's a legendary boat Charlie; For the 1979 season, Jeff Brown of Hawthorn, CA had Larry Smith make him a new Kevlar49 built 9 Meter "Pure Insanity" P-38 (II) and he become the Overall U.S. Production Class Champion of 1979 . Here's a couple of shots of (II) in action. Pure Insanity (II) was in the mid 80's owned by a Glenn & Roberta Gill of Montclair, CA and raced in the Production Class. The boat has TRS drives and has since the Gill's ownership, for years now, been owned by Lee Porteous of Greater San Francisco and has twin SBC with 6-71 blowers. Lee runs her in the classic Catalina Ski Race in California sometimes. Boat has big power and runs in the 90's any day, all day. Which of the Benihana boats do you own I’m looking for one of them. Looking for Benihana 77 boat was then repainted all black then someone changed sides and deck to white boat had purple engine compartment.

#38 Wolverine 29 Mirage was destroyed after an attempt to pull a plug from it failed here in metro detroit in the early 80's. Dick Smith (owner Pete's son) and I made a tribute boat from a different 29 Mirage Pete had purchased to race Sport Class with. Plans changed and he went up to open in a 37 Active cat.
