Thanks for all the info. After a few days of searching, I still cannot find anything similar as a whole. I really would appreciate any and all 25’ Hull pictures, as this one looks like the mag, minus the transom styleline. IMO, that step was added when they plugged the through hull exhaust. Deck is definitely different. Drives appear to be Volvo 270T’s with extended shafts and spacers? Also, if anyone has any ideas on trying to strip the primer from transom vs sanding, I’d love to try and get the HIN off it. Tips and thoughts are appreciated. Thank you you all for your help! |
The Volvo 270T is very recognizable by what is often referred to as gargantuan elephant ear casings on either side of the trans plate. That thing doesn't have 'em. It looks like it might be some sort of modified/custom outdrive trim system though.
I admit that the hull certainly resembles a Mag 25 but there was a couple of manufacturers who did copies of the 25 , I'm thinking that IMP was one of them. Keep searching here using any variety of search words. There is stuff here , I've seen it before. What is odd about that one is it looks like there was never any provision for a cuddy , just a crawl space to the forward gas tank area. All the other copies that I've seen made use of the space forward for creature comforts. Some more Mag 25 pics here ..... There’s definitely a Lower unit trim system, looks like a hydro or electric ram that comes out at bottom of drive. Plus there’s controls and gauges for it I think. I understand what you are saying about the cuddy/forward hatch. The first bulkhead is actually in front of what I would call the glassed dash, supporting all of that teak. Then there is a matching second one, forward of the gas tank. Topside is rock solid with multiple ribs glasses in, then also fastened to the circular bulkheads. I actually have the seats for it it as well, and will look to see if there’s any numbers on them. I’m not really looking for a diamond in the rough, but certainly have become interested in its history. Thank you all for the help, and keep it coming! |

online research on the volvo drives shows a hydraulic pump on top of the mount inside the transom? Yes there are spacers, but I pointed that out. There is definitely a drive trim switch with gauges. As as far as I can tell, the Volvo Drive tag is: Pz nr 2179908 guessing these are original to the boat, so maybe one can help with the era of the drives? |

if it’s a Monza, I’d love to see a similar one. Not much info or pics of early Monza boats. Especially with no forward cuddly finishing aspects, as noted by Mr Vinyl i keep looking at the transom area with the louvres, style lines, etc. thanks for the input, and keep it coming! |

Okay, so they should work for low speed, trailer adjustments, shallow water? Any idea which ones these are off serial #? i have to do some transom work anyway, so I’m not opposed to bravos, alphas, OBs, etc, I would only do the OBs or a major change if I can’t figure out what this Hull is. I do have a soft spot for old nostalgic stuff. Most of what I’ve been reading in the last few weeks is inspiring. Thanks |
