Larry had his own set of molds. Wellcraft built there own after Larry would send them a plug from his mold . and then they designed there own deck.

The Scarab 3 was always a favorite of mine. I love the styling. A new modern one would be so cool!

all the original scarab hull designs were aronow derivative copies. magnum & cigarette bottoms. everyone was doing it.

I know the 38 came from the 35 Cigarette but did the 30 scarab come from the 27 Magnum ?

Check your facts Larry's bottoms were totally different than Cigarette thats why DOn had to build a 37 was to go after Larry's boats that were beating his 35s

Scarab, IMO was such an iconic name/brand. Its sad that it disappeared. I remember going to a boat show in the early 90s and looking at the new Wellcraft Nova and 29' Scarab. Loved the lines

Also Larry Smith was one of if not the first to incorporate steps, different layups with kevlar/coaring, and also vacuum bagging techniques in to these boats.
