Good deal or not on '07 Cobalt 252 w/ 496 MAG?
#13
For those that don't know, I've been looking at a Baja 277 Islander pretty heavy the past few weeks. But my focus has turned toward these beautiful Cobalts, in particular, the 252.
I've found a dealer that has a brand new 2007 252 with a 496 MAG and Bravo 3. It comes with a fully optioned Eagle trailer. Options include: bow and cockpit covers, bimini, swim platform lighting, leather steering wheel, stereo remote on transom, upgraded carpet, bow filler cushions, trim tabs, hatch actuator, dual battery, and SS tread. Maybe some other little items that as well. Most noticeably missing is the fire extinguishing system and docking lights.
Anyways, I've skinnied him down to $ for the boat and trailer + tax. In all of your experiences, how good of a deal does this sound? Do you think I can push a little harder still? I'm now dealing with the dealership owner through the sales manager. Apparently he's going to ask Cobalt for some help on the deal.
Input??

I have friends with a 28 Baja, and also a 27 Cobalt.
There is no comparison. The ride and feel of the cobalt is amazing, solid nimble, the Baja, feels VERY heavy.
Fit and finish, no comparison.
The Cobalt is one amazing all around boat. Fast, fun, great looking. Another buddy of ours loved his so much he bought the same boat.

Let me just say that I love Cobalt! The boat itself is awesome as well. But the wife and I already have our eyes set on one of the new 296's. This was a fantastic first boat for us. But for a couple with no kids, we feel like we need more space. She wants a vacu flush head, and I want twin 496 mags.
They say that you should buy your second boat first. And I thought we did that, but apparently not.
