Worlds Fastest Cobalt?

Set of Saris Racing 900s being installed in a 343 tomorrow, should have results soon. One hell of a sleeper!

Knot 4 Me 06-13-2013 07:32 AM

What drives?

pasquesi 06-13-2013 08:34 AM

Details!!! Please!!!

brwic 06-13-2013 10:16 PM

Very interested in knowing what comes of this. I recently sold my 343 and miss it!! Please keep us all posted on the results of this transformation.

TeamSaris 06-14-2013 12:24 PM

XR Drives
Ran in the low 70s with 525s, then we whippled them, ran low 80s. Now we have closed cooled whippled 540s with good heads making 900 on pump gas. Should run well :)
Second motor is in. Results sooner than later

JasonSmith 06-15-2013 07:00 PM

Sounds exciting!

bulletbob 06-18-2013 01:24 PM

Subscribed!!!! A new friend just picked one up. It was buy far my favorite sport cruiser at 03' Miami Boat Show.

TeamSaris 06-19-2013 11:32 PM

First pull was 93, not dialed in yet. Expect very high 90s every day. Boat handled it great too, laid down perfectly!

pasquesi 06-20-2013 06:46 AM

Wow. That is some wicked speed. Congratulations.

Very impressive, sounds like a cool project but the worry over the drives would offset some of the thrill / excitement. Any discussions about upgrading the drive package??

There's a been a few of these 343's w/ upgraded power. Here's a whipple charged 525 Cobalt 343.

I plan to have me one, once the Skater 30 is gone.

pinball 06-21-2013 09:03 PM

like to think it will do 100 keep us posted trying to get 100 out of 34 sutphen tsunami race boat. we just installed 725 blower motors.. first run 28 props to small 70 at 4000 82 at 5000. never ran more than three quarter throttle. 32 s on the way.

stainless 06-23-2013 05:23 AM

Try putting Kiss Cote on the bottom and drive lowers, I picked up 2-3 mph on my 343 with this

That may very well be this boat in that picture

I don't believe so, the boat w/ the whipples is in Ohio, original owner, install performed by Sterling is what I've been told.

pinball 06-25-2013 06:51 PM

today with 32 s 96.8 one motor 6000 one motor 5500 bad fuel pump.. it was already replaced with one not exacty the same one as other. we were told it would work the same . it died at end of day . it needs 34 s . and proper pump 100 mph easy . can t wait. 34 sutphen tsunami. race boat. new 725 blower motors

NASCAT 06-25-2013 06:58 PM

That's very impressive, nice work. Are those Merc or Herings. 4 or 5 blades if you don't mind me asking?

pinball 06-25-2013 08:33 PM

tsunami triple digits

regular 4 blade mercs. no lab finish probably would be overkill. we do not want to get to crazy with that boat.its not that heavy and top speed in its history was 98 but most of the time it raced with 570 s top speed 86..we will go over 100 then probably stay in the low 90 s,even on a good blast..well at least thats the plan.the cornering on that boat at 70 to 80 is unbeleavable.its the real deal .so glad i got this thing.

TeamSaris 07-09-2013 04:58 PM

The Cobalt is at 98 and runs out of prop, 32s on 1.3.6 gears. 34s are junk (bravo 1s) so to 5 blades we go!

Apexwarrior 07-10-2013 07:08 AM

You guys have done an amazing job with this project. It's kind of like the pontoon boat at LOTO, the ultimate sleeper!

Its beginning to look like I may have to talk to Jason about upgrades. I may get outrun by a Cobalt!

NASCAT 07-10-2013 07:09 AM

When can we see a few pics of the sleeper??

That looks just like the one I mentioned a few posts back only yours appears to be a little cleaner & neater rigging.. This particular boat is a blue hull w/ yellow stripe supposedly out of Ohio that belonged to a John R.

TeamSaris 07-10-2013 07:38 AM

We tidied a lot of the rigging up for the customer. The only Merc parts left on these engines are the valve covers and the closed cooling.
This one is blue with a red stripe, and says Special K on it in small letters, owned by a John C. Small world!

NASCAT 07-10-2013 07:45 AM

You've done a nice job w/ it. Looking forward to seeing & hearing about the finished product.

TeamSaris 08-02-2013 07:34 AM

If nothing else this boat can be crowned king of the sleepers on our lake :D
Its surprised a lot of people!

NASCAT 08-02-2013 07:36 AM

Are you all done w/ it & have returned it to the customer??
You need to post at least one GoPro Vid of it dusting off a Perf Boat just for chits & giggles.

mysweetone 08-02-2013 09:25 AM

This is all very intriguing but lets see a few picturres and if your feeling kind... a video!

JcookMI 08-02-2013 10:10 AM

Gotta see some pictures of the sleeper.

mysweetone 08-08-2013 08:56 AM

still no pictures or video??:(

He enjoys embarrassing Fountains especially!
EVen lined up with one of the 28 Skaters we built, didnt get him, but surprised the hell out of him when they were still side by side in the mid 90s. Its not the top speed that is so impressive with this boat (although at damn near 100 its pretty fast), its the pull from 70-90

kreed 11-20-2013 02:39 PM

No drive problems yet? Cool boat.

little over a thou, just did this the end of last summer, still need to find the sweet spot with the trim tabs (just put them on too) before the tabs that thing was like a squirle looking for a nut

TeamSaris 02-14-2014 09:32 PM

Was just made aware of this, it isnt my job to string the customer's boat out...but I'm sure we can get a GPS reading out of him this spring. Very impressive numbers for a 25!

NASCAT 02-14-2014 09:39 PM

Didn't you mean 35'?

The 343 is MASSIVE it may even be longer than that. It certainly feels it.
I was commenting on Liquid Longer's boat though.
