Trailering a 36 Concept
What truck do you need to pull a 36 Concept?
Can a Nissan Titan 5.6 witha tow package do the job or something bigger like a 2500 series truck? |
oh hell noooooooooo

I'm thinking the 2500 series isn't quite enough to be "safe".....the Nissan is OK if you don't leave the parking lot.

My father just used my Nissan Titan to pull his 32 concept from Miami to Cape Coral. He said it pulled well. My truck has air bags in the rear and the trailer had electric over hydraulic brakes. A 36 concept is a much bigger boat than the 32......

How often do you need to tow and how far?

Ah, did not know you planned on pulling an OB boat when you originally inquired in the truck section.
With an OB boat like you are talking about, I would DEFINITELY go for a LONG WHEEL BASE truck that is at LEAST a 3/4 ton. Your boat is going to have a LOT of weight at the very end of the tail, and the very end of the dog. While trailer setup is key, as in tongue weight, and boat placement, you are still going to have that weight back there. One wrong bump and all that weight at the end of your teeter totter (aka trailer), and the rear wheels of your truck are going to get REALLY light. The more truck you have, the better off you are going to be. I HIGHLY suggest a 3/4 ton truck with at least the wheel base of a long bed/extended cab or short bed/crew cab. The more truck you have to control that load, the better. |
Anybody tried pulling one with either a Navagator or Escalade??
|
I just looked a 2003 f-250 with a 5.4 liter and 3.73 axle and the trailer weight to pull that was less the the Titan it was 7400lbs. Little confused I picked the boat up with my friends
new Tundra and it pulled the boat fine. I am not going to be trailing the boat all the time it is just for the times I need to pull it out for work or if I am going to do a pokerrun so if I trailer it 4 to 6 times ayear would be alot. The rest of time it will be high and dry stored. |
Question if I'm wrong please tell me but
36 5,100 lbs/ engines 1600 lbs /trailer 1100lbs and say 500lbs for extras if I missed something. So thats 8,300 lbs. So say 8,500 the Titan say it pulls 10,000. I should be able to pull it, but I want to be safe about it too. |
