Default 1997 Concept 28 t200s

I am looking in to a 97 Concept 28 (30 now) with Evinride 200s. I know these have wood construction and the 200s seem a little underpowered. Boat was a freshwater used hull up until the last few years. Anyone have perf numbers on this setup? Top speed specifically. It looks to be in excellent shape and has been covered all it's life, but how prone are they to rot even if covered? If the hull and all is in good shape, I will definitely repower in a year or two, but just curious how It will run with the carbd Evinrudes. And very curious about potential transom, stringer and deck rot.

join Concepts FB page and ask, good group of ppl, not sure if they had wood or not, I had a 2000 and it was all foam board . 200's will probably be a 60 mph boat and suck some fuel but if the deal is right go for it, those motors are probably only worth 3-4K for the pair

Actually in 2000 they were a combination of wood and foam... Yes, your old boat had some wood, not much but its there. The cockpit panels for instance are balsa core.... Before 2000 is wood, 2000 was the transition year where they were a mix, and after 2000 was wood free. Mine (pete280s old boat) will run high 60s with 225 optis so depending on condition of the 200s and figure the wood construction (a bit heavier) I would guess mid to high 50s......

If the price is right, and it's in good shape a 97 cleaned up with a few updates can look much newer. They didn't change much on the 28/30 for a long time, until the stepped the hull. Most people that see my 30 think its new (and its now 15 yrs old). Post pics of the one your looking at, also as Pete280 mentioned, check out their FB page.

I snatched it up, too good of shape to pass up. Have been sorting it out over the past month or so. I love this boat, but it needs 250s for what I'd like it to do. It needs constant tab and trim work at high speeds for sure.
