Default New Tax laws that will surely affect you!

The Connecticut Marine Trades Association has organized a
Breakfast with the Legislature
to educate our representatives about the effects of the Governor’s proposed budget on the Marine Industry

Wednesday, March 9th, 8:30 – 10am
Legislative Office Building
Capital Ave., Hartford, CT*

The Proposed CT Budget would impact the Marine Industry by:
Imposing Sales Tax on Repair and Maintenance Labor Charges
Imposing Sales Tax on Winter Storage
Imposing Sales Tax on Towing
Sweep the Boating Account from the DEP to the General Fund
Add a 3% luxury Tax on new boat sales over $100,000
Allow Municipalities to impose property tax on boats.
Call your Legislators and invite them to meet on March 9th to discuss the potential effect of these changes on the industry. If you need your Representative’s/Senator’s contact information, follow the link below: http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/menu/CGAFindLeg.asp

*Directions at http://www.cga.ct.gov/capitoltours/directions.htm.

Further information can be obtained at CMTA 860-767-2645

this might be a small point but those of us whom boat in CT and have a house in RI will vouch to move all of our boating expenses to RI where property tax and sales tax are zero. I think many people will choose to switch there registration states and avoid CT altogether.
