Re: Baltek ContourKore
I Got the Decolite today from composites one
Great stuff 4x8 sheet coated both sides stiff as a dead billy goat and lite as a feather. $263.00 dollars a sheet  I think this stuff is similar to the material that Skater uses for there Bulkheads. It looks just like it. Gerry |

Thanks for the response Ofshore Ginger
I dont know anyone at Skater other then Peter. He has somewhat guided me in my recent project I am converting a race layup with many bulkheads to a pleasure Cat. I will post a picture of this material in the AM. It looks similar to the bulk heads resembling the bunch of rectangular squares. This is going to be the Birth. Here is the project. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=114707 |
Re: Baltek ContourKore
I refered to this product as Decolite. However the
pannel has name Baltek on it. It looks like two outside laminated sheets with squares in the core. It is very rigid and when you tap it it has the same noise and tensile similaritys of the bulkheads. Gerry |

Baltec makes decolite. Here is a pic of the inside of a 46' Skater. Has Decolite as bulkheads.

That is KiloKats with some nice smelling Awlgrip to seal any possible pin holes or fractures. This was suggested to me and I have been doing the same. This would prevent or supside any water to work its way into the coring. Older Skaters are noitorious for soggy balsa. |

Here is what I bought.
3/4 inch 4x8. I thought this stuff was perfect for what Im doing. There is also a striking resemblance of whats on my bulkheads. |

Here is the plan.
The second picture reveals the first cabin. this is taken "width" wise. Bottom of pictures shows the center tunnel stringer. The pannel Will be placed from the outer edge of the tunnel to the far sponson gunnel. this will yield a 4foot by 6foot ( 1/2 of the 12 foot beam) birth. This will be covered with 2 inch memory foam. This will give 30inches of head room while laying down. My plan is to ad at least one 16x16 hatch off the center line of deck favoring the birth side. This will help in the "claustrophobic" effect. Also gives a quick access to puke out of the cabin when you drink to much beer. :D |
Re: Baltek ContourKore
FX10/Rick Who makes "DIVINICEL" ?? and who or where do you buy it ?? Is it a foam core with skins like the "BALTEK" products ?? Does it have the water absorbtion problem that BALSA based products have ?? What do you use to join pieces of these products together?? Epoxy;polyester;or vinalester. IS there a brand to use, like WEST, SYSTEM 3,EPIGLASS ??
THANKS AW |
