Baltek ContourKore

Any one ever use Baltek contourkore its in the defender
catalog ?I want to use it for the birth support. (bed)
I was thinking 3/4 inch thick with a span of 48 inches.

Do you think it will support the load.

My plan is to install two sheets side by side. Starting on the
tunnel and going to the far starboard gunnel in the (starboard)
sponson. (46 skater) The bed will run with wise.
It will be 6 feet by 4 feet wide.

The access to the cabin on this Skater is on the port side
sponson. So when you enter look to your right the bed will be
there.

Any thoughts?
Gerry

Well the Baltek arrived friday. It is nice stuff howver
it is not rigid. It would be great to sandwich between
glass. It is a coring product.

I will call composite 1 and see what they have.

Baltek makes flat panels with end grain balsa sandwiched between layers of fiberglass. They are about as stong as an equivalent thickness of plywood but much lighter. They call it Decolite.

Gerry, Do you have the phone and address of "Composits 1"? I want to build some boxes about 20" x 20" x 14' for the underside of my box truck.I priced out aluminum custom made boxes and even thou this stuff is $300 per sheet I think I would be better off. Thanks AW
