Re: Prep outdrive for paint
Induction is a term used only for epoxy paint. If you do not allow induction before spraying the epoxy will take a longer time to cure. This is not the same for 2 stage paint. They cure by a hardner usually an isocyanate based product, either an aliphatic or poly isocyanate.

Re: Prep outdrive for paint
Gary,
I did some my self and ran out of time so had the rest done by someone else. I did do the trim ram's from start to finish. They turned out better than the Merc fiinish. No luck yet on the steering bracket. Still waiting for drives. Rick p.s. someone posted $160 for all of those materials, not in my case, it was close to $400. 1 qt of paint and activator is close to $160 and you have 3 different qts of products (DP40, high build primer, color). |

Now that I reread that post, I believe that was copied from a post I made a yr a long time ago. I had right at $160 for all the paint materials. Quart sized. All products were PPG with the Concept paint. More than enough to do 2 complete drives. |
Re: Prep outdrive for paint
I spoke with a place called GNE Paint in Hazel Park, Michigan last week. They quoted me approximately $175.00 for the listed products. I did ask for the DAR-9000 and not the DCC line. Don't know if that makes any difference. I plan to purchase paint next week. I'll post my total cost.

Rick,
I am not sure that you got a bad deal if Chewys numbers were just for primer and paint without the addition high build primer you are about the same |
