Engine Painting
What is the best approach, if there is one, to painting an engine? Specifically paint the pieces individually then assemble or assemble the parts of the engine that are to be painted and then paint the assembly. Reasons forthe best approach is of interest as well.

once all together. this usually helps with chiping due to torqueing and such. it also helps aleviate and scratching or getting paint on mating surfaces that end up needing to be cleaned .

I usually assemble the basic engine components, then paint the brackets, pulleys, etc, individually to avoid chipping and such.
I painted this SBC the other day : |
Donman, I was about to poke fun at how you painted the spark plugs and oil filter too :D but instead I'm curious about that color. I know all monitors are different, but what is that? I have visions of orange motors in a silver bilge for my boat.
Thanks. |
Donman,
Very nice. How and what do you use to final degrease prep the engine before painting? What kind of paint did you use on that engine? |
