canopies

Let me get into some detail. The canopies were made by Texstar. They were $12,000 and are 500 mph impact resistant poly. The glass work I am needing done is 80% cosmedic. The canopies are not being structurally mounted to the altered deck as it is more a platform for them to sit on. They are being mounted( bolted ) from the inside of the canopy with aluminum which is then being bolted to the bulkheads and stringers. I sent the canopies to a local fab shop and had and all the pieces made. There is minimal cutting,of the deck, involved and the one bulkhead at the dash is slightly going to be touched . You guys bring up a good point on break-away or staying affixed due to a rollover. There has not been any mounting holes drilled at this time. One more thing. The canopies are cut to the more common 1/4 style. Motion, Spectre, Skater, ..........

Nice choice. Those are the best you can get (Textars) they are the actual ones used on the F-16's. I kind of see what you are attempting to do now. the mounting brackets have been fabbed and now you need to shape the deck to meet up with them (if i follow correctly)

For a minute there, I thought you guys were steeling my thunder. Less talk and more bashing.

Once again, your reply came up while I was typing. I'm not very fast yet. Yes, thats correct. I just want to make sure, cosmetically, I doen't get any stress cracks and get good adhesion. If you look at the Spectre's, add # 3, just like that minus the outside aluminum around the canopy.

Ok then take that 30 foot ark you call a boat and buy a real boat... How did I do? :grinser010:

Only problem I see with your "fix" is that you will likely have to grind the boat...... That is always one that most people can not take seeing let alone doing themselves :D When Chart and I ground down my boat he could not watch and he now knows I am a little wrong because I was laughing the entire time I was doing it. :cool-smiley-011: Maybe you can come up with a sort of shim/spacer that you can make off the boat and put in place? Then if this ever needs to come off it is totally stock.
