rustoleum in the bilge

Did I read here someone used regular white rustoleum in the bilge and it came out nice?

9100 which is a 2 part epoxy will work great and can be brushed and rolled in. Good resistance to oil and gas and will hold a gloss as long as it is not exposed to sunlight.

yes you did, I have and it came out nice and stayed that way for the next 6 years. Cleaned up easy/well and never came up.

prep is important as always-no traces of grease/oil/gas (scrub, scrub, scrub with Dawn) and bone dry for application.

I had good luck and it was inexpensive. I would do it again under the same circumstances.

you know what they say about paint. The 3 most important things are , preperation, preperation, preperation. also make sure you let it cure for at least a couple days before working with it. Just to confuse the issue some more. I coated the bilge of my 18 Donzi with spray in bed liner. easy to work with, and very tough.

yes I have use Rustoleum enamel in the bilge. It worked great. Grey in color from the hardware store. It was when i was young and broke and rigged a corsa 26, the motor continually leaked oil, and the trans spit out fluid too. The paint held fine. The rumor is rustoleum is made with fish oil. Buy some better paint. use rustoleum for the patio funiture.

kinda contradictory don't cha' think?

I used gloss white and it looked and held up awesome. One helluva outcome for $20 in materials.

I was at a customer's this morning looking at a machine we refurbished 8 months ago- painted with Rustoleum 9100. It gets used 3 shifts a day, 7 days a week. They close for 18 hours on Christmas. The machine is used every minute they're open. We pressure washed it and it looks like it did the day we finished it. The machine has International highway tractors driven onto it once every 45 minutes. Not bad performance.
