If my memory @ the moment is correct, The clear that Donzi primarily uses currently is PPG DBX695 and usually DBU base coat.. Up until that point It was mainly BASF's stuff on painted applications (graphics). J

My Donzi is getting sprayed in Awlgrip, another great product.

My brother's 22 Donzi has it below the waterline and has had zero problems with blistering, trailer bunks, etc. His was sprayed with Awlgrip about 8 years ago and still looks new.

Sorry , I missed the other part of your question. I as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I am not a big user of Imron. I mainly use BASF. To be honest it has been a while since I have used any imron product. Id really have to look back as their product line is not something I vividly have in my head other than a knowing a few of the manufacturers that use it..
I pretty much only use it if a customer were to insist on it.. Otherwise it is again mainly BASF with PPG as a second choice for me.. Jamie

I did some quick searches before doing mine and found that most PPG users will tell you that the 2021 clear is what they use on boats. I have had no problems with mine but it does not spend months in the water.

Thanks guys, keep the info comming. I really feel the major problem with mine is simply not enough clear coat to start with. But if I'm going to do all the work to fix this I would like to use the best product for the application. I have done several complete graphic redos in the past with PPG products and never had this problem. Any info is appreciated.

Have you tried slowing down to keep the clear on the boat.

Cool. Just be careful, you want to make sure your prep work is very clean as adhesion is important. Also yes you want to have enough clear on to wetsand if you need to, but be careful as to not go overly thick as thats not really good either.. Jamie

The issue is not necessarily the brand of product being used. The issue is it's a 2-stage process being used under water for an extended period of time. A single stage will hold up under the water, typ. of Dupont Imron that you see on older Formula stripes. But, I have seen the clear coat bubbling on 2-stage process paint jobs from most major manufacturers, including Fountain, Outerlimits, Cigarette, Hustler, etc.
