Question for GlassDave

Or anyone else with suggestions.

I'm thinking about building a 575 hatch from a flat hatch on my Top Gun.

I would need to bulid a doomed plug, make a mold, make the part and glass the part over the flat hatch. The entire inside could then be cut out and molded into the doom from underneath.

Question:
What layup schedule do you recommend. Materials, coring, glass, ect...

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I can email pictures if needed.

Rob.....

It would look something like the attached. Randy's hatch.

Although mine will need scoops as well.

It would probably look more like this.

you will be better off building an entirely new hatch rather than try and cut away you existing hatch. It would end up being about the same amount of work but would yield a better part.

I tried calling you, give me another ring when you have a chance and i'll help you out with a laminate schedule and core choices. Have you thought about one of Darrens?

Thanks for the help Dave. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Plug should be done this weekend. I just need to sand down the gel coat. Then I need to cut out a section for the top pad. This will allow the pad to set flush with the top of hatch. How deep should I go for the pad?

Pictures attached. I'm thinking just a flat pad and no pad up front or around front of hatch. What do you guys think?

Another option is to pad all the way down the front like the originals? Its a bit more work and I'm not sure I would like the look as much.

Talking to Phil about getting the original eye brow vent on the back.

I would leave it without pad. Looks racier. Nice job .:drink:
