My boat apparently sat in the water a while before i bought it and has a good amount of nasty crap all down the bottom and is a pain to get off, does anyone have a suggestion or know of a product that will help out a little?

is the gel stained or is it a build up or film of stuff?

Oh now that you mention it,it might be stained. Ive tried wet sanding it and it doesnt seem to come off.

If it is stained you might try a product called "On&Off". It is an acid base so needs to be used with care, just read the instructions/cautions. Should be able to get it at most marine stores. Have used it for many many years and there is little out there that works as well.

Muratic acid. Basically the same as On/OFF, except easier to apply and remove. Just put it in a gallon garden pump sprayer. Spray it on and hose it off. Rinse very well, especially on anything metal.

go get some Sno-bowl toilet bowl cleaner. Put it in a pump up garden type sprayer and hose away. We get a horrible staning from our river here and my boat always gets a brownish staining after a long weekend. Sno bowl takes it right off. I mix it with water to make it just thin enough to get through the sprayer, keep spraying it on and scrub with a soft brush. Works great on stainless hardware to.

+1!! I've used it for about 5 years now on my boats, but I always trailer too. Have to use it a couple times a season to keep it looking good.

I did use it on my g/f's boat this fall and she keeps it in from middle of May til end of Sept. so there's a lot of buildup. Pressure washed at the car wash then applied Slimey Grimey with a pump garden sprayer then used a soft bristle brush and hosed off, came out mint! Use HOT water with the mix, it does make a difference!
