gel coat worn thru on bottom
#1
So i spent the last 2 weeks sanding through 20 years worth of bottom paint on my center console (my wife has been calling me smurf). In some places i went too a little too far and sanded all the way through the gelcoat. I just put in a lift on my pier for the boat, so it will never sit in the water for more than one day. My question is this....
I plan to paint the entire boat next spring. Do i need to re-gel the areas that i sanded thru for this summer? If it's necessary, i'll certainly do it. But the spots are below the waterline and not visible, so if it isn't necessary i just assume leave it as is and not do the extra work until painting next year.
Thanks!

Yes,
even though Gel is not completely waterproof either, I would gel it to keep it from seeping into the rest of the bottom, also, there is some serious water pressure when running, without the smooth gel surface, it can get between the glass layers, and start to delaminate.
