Default Is there a way to temp. plug a through hull fitting hole?

I need to check and see if my water pick-up is causing my high prop slip. The only way to check is to remove the pick up and sea trial. Is there a way to plug the hole where the pick up goes through the hull, tempararily and safetly?? The hole is about an inch in diameter.

Thanks

Try looking in your local hardware or plumbing store. You can buy expandable plugs that push in then you tighten them up to expand their size, almost like those hull plugs from years ago on the little tin boats. One of these combined with a little caulk to be sure it's totally water tight might work for a test run. Any thru hull cut should be glassed so water into the laminate should not be an issue. I'm thinking a company called "Fernco" might make these, they are a plumbing chit kinda' company.
