+1 on the Rapid remover, just go to a local sign shop and buy a gallon. It won't hurt the paint or gel. I have been using it for years. Too late for the wheel if you already have the vinyl off. It's also very easy to burn gel and paint with one.

I'll have to try it, I have used rapid tack for putting vinyl on.

How well did the Rapid Tack work after it was in the water for a few times?

I dont know what it would do to a boats gel, but by far the best adhesive remover I have ever tried, without a doubt, was 3m electrical contact cleaner. It was pretty amazing how well it worked. I didnt even spray it directly on the surface, I sprayed it on a rag and then wiped, one swipe took all the residue off.

I used it to remove the adhesive residue left over from the stupid ass operating system stickers on my Laptop (tough stuff), so I know it wont harm plastic.

I use lighter fluid, the Napthalin cuts the adhesive but isn't hot enough to hurt the gel coat. I've seen Acetone and Goo Gone cause plastics to yellow over time. most of the adhesive removal products have Xylol and Tolulene in them which will hurt paint, plastic or fiberglass.

I'm kinda baffled by information about Acetone hurting gel. I've watched several videos and read a few books all say clean with acetone prior fixing, spraying, ect... Now acids I've read not to use, such as toilet bowl cleaner ect... But acetone is a ketone, not an acid, if someone could please direct me to a link with negative information on gel coat.

It's only used when putting vinyl on to give you time to work out bubbles or move the graphic slightly.

Works great, once it is dry the vinyl sticks as good as if you didn't use anything.

acetone won't hurt the gel..but I would worry about the paint !!! been using the rapid remover for years...works the best and is water clean up after..have a hose ready to clean up after..Rob

Yes 2 different fluids from the same company, as Wildman said.
Rapid Tac is an application fluid that aggravates the adhesive and actually improves adhesion while allowing you to move the graphic before squeegeeing to expel the fluid and "set" the graphic.
The remover is an orange oil based product that breaks down adhesive and gel's it. We usually spray it on then wait a few and scrape the majority off with a plastic edge then spray it and wipe clean.
