one thought on 100 degree texas heat. what is temp at 5 AM? get everything cut and laid out evening before. get up, pour down a cup and go get messy! even if it only drops to 80, it should be a help...

83 degrees at 5 am....good call well we will have to wait till 6:30 or so for day light but gives us a couple hours before the 90's start beating us....Thank you for the help and good looking out!!

Ok stupid question of the day....After transom is in place...what do i use to adhear the stringers to the hull and to the transom?

I would router some notches in the new transom to lock the stringers into it. then use cabosil to bond the stringers to the bottom of the hull and transom to get your radius before you glass and transom then 1708 every thing but make sure you holf round your stringers so the 1708 will lay over nicly. sorry for the sh**y drawing but you get the idea.

I would not notch the transom for the stringers.

Cut them to fit as close as possible, then use resin/cabosil to fill the gaps and tab them in with 1708 biax. A tip that saves time is to take about 2 gallons of resin and use a drill and paint mixer attachment and just mix it up with cabosil until it's about like peanut butter. Then you don't have to do it every time you need some, just scoop it out and add the catalyst. Just make sure you have a good bucket with a good lid and keep it sealed up and do NOT catalyze the whole bucket, just what you need at a given time.

agreed, don't notch transom. bottom of transom is pushing forward against stringers (with about 1000 hp) bottom of transom is where all your power connects to rest of hull...

i was not saying notch the hole transom just router the last sheat of wood you put in, it will make everything a LOT more rheged, and then every thing fits together like a puzzle but there is always more then one way the do something!

Day 1
Stbrd string is out and transom is out and most of the forward bulk head..I'll try to get everyone some pictures up...transom literally fell appart in out hands....I'll try to post up everyday of our progress

Day 2 all stringer removed from engine hatch, ground flush and two of the forward stringers removed, tomorrow hopefully all stringers and both bulkheads should be out, possibly start prepping for transom reassembly....

Day 3 got all stringers removed and everything is ground down, weather permitting tomorrow gonna get the transom in and hopefully glassed in....
