It depends on your experience buffing stuff. If you don't know what you are doing with a heavy cut its easy to burn through. Go with a finer compound or something like Buff Magic that changes as you use it.

If your boat is heavily oxidized, nothing beats Aqua Buff 1000 and a twisted wool pad. It will require some finishing work but it cuts through oxidation like nothing I've ever seen. It blows 3M Super Duty out of the water.

Here are some before/after pics of a yellow boat one of our detailer customers sent us out of Maryland. The products used were Crystal Cut Compound, Crystal Cut Polish, and Crystal Gloss Wax. I believe he also used a DA polisher with foam pads.

I have a Red and Black IMP that had heavy oxidation on the sides (black was almost a light grey). I have had it for 6 seasons. The first season i wet sanded it below the rub rail, went over it with 3M compound (cotton pad), and buffed it with ??? (can't remeber) - But, it held up pretty good till this season. Not sure if i did it right but it worked well. The boat is stored outside about 50% of the summer...
