Default epoxy for transducers?

Do I have to use the epoxy resin from the depth finder manufacturer? Can I just use the polyester resin I'm currently using to fix my boat? It seems like it would be a stronger bond if I glued it now with the polyester resin I'm using before I paint?

thats a tough one without knowing what the housing is made of. I would stick with the manufacturers stuff just to be safe.
