Thanks for all the suggestions - I have ordered the FOY Vitero and see how that works. I'm also going to look into Boat Candy Gloss as it is a polymer wax.

I have read on other websites that the carnuba based waxes can yellow gelcoat over time - has anyone actually had any experience with yellowing from a carnuba based wax or is this an urban legend?

I really liked the Vitero it shines and holds up really well, the only thing is I seemed to get some streaking with it on the dark colors. I am not sure if it was reacting with the other waxes I have used. Leverage is a great quick wax. I have found the Performance Boat candy polish to be the best over all and I love the Speed Gloss quick detailer.

Vitreo is an excellent polish (it is NOT a wax). I never use wax on gelcoat. Always use a quality polish. I have been using vitro exclusively for the last year on mine, friends, and customer boats. It protects well and create a slick surface that very few things stick to.. There are many arguments as to wax or not wax and why... I am on the do not wax side of the argument.

The streaking you are seeing in dark colors is the polish itself. I would guess you are applying too much or not wiping it off enough. You just don't notice it on white as much. I usually apply and remove with a wool pad on a polisher, but have had decent success using an orbital. When using an orbital, I use one bonnet to apply and one to remove. I have had decent success applying by hand and removing with a orbital. It takes a decent amount of work to remove by hand as it tends to want to spread around a bit. Either method you use, it is worth the effort. Vitreo has been the best polish I have ever used on gel coat.

If there are weird misspellings in my post it is because the Microsoft Surface tablet is a POS!! I am testing one for work and it sucks. I will take an iPad any day over this turf.

I just had my boat polished and waxed. they put 8 coats on and off.. this is the trick to a show quality finish.
