Which brand of wax are you using?
Time to apply a new coat of wax and wondering what brands oso members are using?
Looking for a wax that won't color/tint white gelcoat while providing good UV protection. Thanks for any any recommendations. |
Yea, thats a great question. I am going to wax the front deck and i'm afraid of the slippery effect. When we anchor, the wife goes up there to drop in the one anchor. Now I really like my wife so i am worried she could fall. ( should have thought about this with the x-wife, dam it!). But I digress. Is there a non slip wax on the market, or is this a boat shoe issue?

Fountain of Youth- Vitreo. I've used this for over a year and have been happy with the results. I used to use Collinite fleet wax which holds up incredibly well but it's a carnuba wax and I've heard it can yellow the gelcoat over time.

Zymol on the paint . Meguires on the gel coat as it's a decent mild cleaner also.

I used Woody Wax on the deck, also great for any non-skid surfaces. Follow the instructions and it's pretty incredible stuff. I don't recommend using it on the hull, though you can. Woody Wax cleaned non-skid and bare hull very well with minimal effort. After flushing with water, bare feet or boat shoes were fine on the deck. It shined well, but the traction was excellent. Another good product is the Starbrite non-skid deck cleaner with PTEF. Leaves your wax or whatever surface intact, cleans extremely well, and leaves a protective coating behind, without the slippery. I've used both Collinite and Meguire's Flagship Premium before. I know everybody loved Collinite, but I thought Flagship worked better. I ended up only using Gel Coat Labs polish/sealant, as I found that applying wax after was a complete waste of time. |
I have used Waxing Frenzy, Vitero, Leverage and Performance Boat Candy all with good results. I really liked the Vitero it shines and holds up really well, the only thing is I seemed to get some streaking with it on the dark colors. I am not sure if it was reacting with the other waxes I have used. Leverage is a great quick wax. I have found the Performance Boat candy polish to be the best over all and I love the Speed Gloss quick detailer.

Collinite Fleet...year after year...strong results in our water hear in South Florida. There are probably as good...maybe better...I stick with what I know.

I have tried Frenzy, Leverage, and like Collonite 885 fleet paste wax the best for longevity

This year I just did a bio Kleen polish
