White paint
 

Hello what is the best paint to use on my outer hull and most reasonable to buy from. I have sprayed gel coat but painting seems the way to go. Poly urethane the best? And also what clear? Thank u

Ppg acrylic urethane. Single stage DCC concept. About 400 bucks a gallon for the color and another 200 for catalyst and reducer. You will get 1.75 gallons sprayable.

Yep, right on with the DCC Concept. Covers fast buffs well and looks great. If you are looking for a great shade of white (of which there many ya know :D) I stumbled across the perfect variant on the Donzi I had. The factory PPG number is 91050 and its a very clean white that goes great with everything. Many people make the mistake of going into a paint supply place and ask for something like refrigerator white or gimmie the whitest white ya got. What you want is a clean color that is a touch to the gray side, Donzi did their homework with this color and I use it on 90% of anything I paint. Im not apposed to a straight mixing white (super ease for future color match) but I think the clean slightly muted white looks better against other colors.

I sprayed Concept for the first time on a lot of parts for my engine compartment. Good stuff, like Dave says covers well and it also flowed out fair. I had no need to buff these parts but would use it on the hull, if or when I do that.

How much was the paint? I would think I could clear coat the color on my hull. Dave didn't mention that but I'm sure he clears over color. Thank u

Concept single stage does not need a clear, it is a direct gloss product. If you are shooting just the white with no graphics thats what i prefer. Sounds kinda like you want to shoot just clear over the gel with no color? If thats the case i would not recommend just clear over gel, it can still fade and discolor under the clear and in that case your kinda screwed. Beside that my thought is if your masked off for paint you should freshen the color as well and give it a nice uniform finish.


if you are spraying your 236 Eagle i'd start with two quarts and mix on the fly as you spray. Do the sides first on one day and see how much material you go through and order if necessary. I would be surprised if ya went through much more on an open bow.

Thanks Dave yes it is an open bow and I do have graphics. I would like u say do the color as well and clear everything but sounds like maybe I should not with that paint. Two quarts cool how much about is it per quart with reducer and activator if needed.

Dave , Have you tried the PPG Delfleet Essential ? My Rep says its as good as the Concept , but half the price.
Its what Freightliner paints all of there trucks with.
Ive painted some drives and accessories with it , and it has the same characteristics of Concept.
