wow, awesome beautiful job you've done
the other side will be easier, all you have to do is peek a round the corner for some inspiration.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8517a4b190.jpg

Took the opportunity to sand and buff the dead gell of the deck while it was easy to get too.

My brother was in town and came out to help flip the boat. Everything went smooth. Going to take a couple weeks off from sanding to put a motor back in the car and work on some smaller stuff.

What did you use on the deck?

justintocars 07-10-2018 01:49 PM

Started with 800 dry on a DA, 1000 wet on a DA, ended up going over it with 2500 by hand before buffing with 3m heavy cut for gell and the 3m medium cut. Tried using mirka foam 2000 pads but they just don't last long enough and nither do the 1000 grit ones for that matter. They just don't cut gell good enough. Probably would have been faster to do it by hand.... The 3m compund works pretty good, says it will take out 800 and it does, but it takes alot of buffing to do it. I'm pretty anal and didnt like that I could still see some of the sanding scratches. On a white boat it would be gret but the red shows too much.... All I did on the bottom was 800 then buff and it's good enough for the fishes.

Would that work on yellow too?

Would love my yellow deck and hull to shine like you're.

Yea. The color shouldn't matter... But I'm no professional. I think all you need to do is sand the dead gell off and buff. The hard part is knowing weather you have all the dead off. Which I am not sure how you would know with a solid color boat. Mine has clear gel over the red so when I started buffing the FIRST time I could see cloudy spots in it. Then I re sanded again and buffed again. Maybe start a thread asking about buffing or how to know how agresive to be with the sanding? I dont know if your pantara is painted or gell either so that would have alot to do with it. I have read about guys using 400 to start with ... But that was on fishing boats, and would scare the hell out of me!

Got the first round of gell shot today. Layed three coats on the back half, hopefully it's close enough that it doesn't all end up on the ground.
