rigging a steering system ???
If I have to buy a complete steering system from helm to steering ram tiller on the bravo 1 drive, which system should I buy? I don't have the budget for external hydraulic steering right now. The boat will be a mid 60mph boat with about 400hp.
Also any helpful tips about how to install this system, or things to watch out for while installing a steering system will be helpful, this is my first time. Thanks -- TM :crazy: |

there is a way to rig from the Helm back to the transom (internal).... You have to have the older style inner steering ram with the lines external to the ram ... then you could ad external at a later time ....I have the internal Ram if your interested ...PM me ....

What type of helm should I get? I don't have room for a rack system, so do I get rotary, or hydraulic, or what ??
thnks, -- TM |
What is a hynautic system? I've seen the name before, just don't know what it means. Seems to be a system on older boats, no?

Hynautic was a non-powered hydraulic pump and reservoir- usually uses with external rams. it had the benefits of hydraulic but no power assist. Not terrible steering with two hands but you couldn't throttle and steer at the same time. Easy conversion to full-power. Just a helm swap and switch the tank from pressurized to vented. Of course you need to plumb in a pump.
if you love your boat, buy a Latham. If you really like it, buy Marine Machine. If you're ambvalent, Mayfair is your best bet. |

Full hydraulic systems are coming down in price. Just wait until 08' and you'll see the price drop. It's because of a new positive displacement pump that will be available in early Feb.
