Im laughing at myself now! I thought I was running 3 die hard battery's but just realized that one of them is a group 24 stowaway battery which was my stereo battery (I run it in series with a die hard) and its shot! Just replaced that battery with a group 31 Optima and it rocks!
Hopefully this has solved my problem.

Boy I am really kicking myself. I had no clue what I had on board (battery wise) and it was all shi*! I was running (3) group 24 stowaway batteries from Napa (all of them 2 years old)!! I just replaced them with new group 31 Die Hard Platinum batteries (2) plus have a new Optima group 31 battery as well. The stereo now just rocks and is exactly what I was looking for..
No wonder I was having problems earlier!

Sounds like you may need a better ground for the head unit. Can't help you with the wife issue (although my mom is a divorce attorney).

Personally I would run larger power AND ground for your head unit--its clearly trying to draw more power than it can get and is turning off. A poor ground or too small of a wire can cause that problem too.

you hit the nail on the head ..Alpine amps suck,, check to see how hot they are getting. see you say it is clear but i dont think you have any idea of clear..one you did not put down what model they are... what speakers are you running?, what ohms?. head unit?. your wire is small for supposed 2000 watts,

Look I run one hcca275 I run two 10w6v2 subs at 1 ohm.
4 sets of boston acoustic pros off two A600's. and A hcca 4125 running one set of boston pros and one set of mtx subs.
I have two systems installed so if i need the extra boost at the beach all i do is hitthe switch and i have a true 2000watts no joke, I run all this off 4 marine batteries not thos stinger crap. and i can run it for 2 hours at full non clipping volume.. you have somtheing wrong with the installation or it is crapy equiptment. Alpine amps over heat allot look into it

Stinger crap? Elaborate please. I'd like to know why you think they're crap.
