best way to pull motor out of the boat
#12
I was actually surprised how well it works but the entire time I have an engine hanging it makes me pretty nervous. I plan on fabbing up some 'outriggers' to help with the stability when I have a motor 7 feet in the air but so far it has proved pretty stable. When we yank them out we don't screw around, we get them up out and back on the ground as fast and smooth as possble and move very slowly to keep the engine from swinging. Only issue so far is I usually try to chain the motor pretty short to the boom, so when it comes time to put it on the ground the motor tends to come in too close to the lift. I don't lift motors from the chaing location in the pic, that was from pulling the tank out. I drilled holes every 12 inches from the end to be able to adjust lifting location.
I plan on getting another picker to lift the motor from the floor to about 4 feet high, then use the big one to put it in the boats. Plus I'd like the smaller one to help with drive R&R as well, the big one is too tall to get under swim platforms.
