how did you finally set lash?

congrats on getting it all done, bet that feels good!!

Got the lash worked out by a little review rather than thinking I know everything. I guess the springs in the lifters must have felt soft to me turns out my zero lash was compressing the lifters all the way. Just had to lighten up my "feel". Anyway got the valves straightened out reset the timing to 35 degrees total made my first quick run today made just over 62 mph with a 23 pitch three blade chopper prop @ 4800 rpm. Didn't have time to mess with it had to get back for an afternoon meeting. I don't think that's the right prop, too slow to get on plane but ran decent once I got going. Any prop suggestions are welcome.

I only made two passes, I was crunched for time. 4800 rpm probably could have gotten more. Diameter of the 23 is 14.25. Ran it this weekend with the old 19 pitch aluminum. Two adults three kids on board. 5000 rpm 45 mph = 25% slip ugh! I've borrowed a 21 pitch to try next. Also working out a crankcase pressure problem. Don't think I'm moving enough air through the pcv valves at high rpms puking oil from dipstick. Removed the pcv valves and running it straight from the valve covers to the air cleaner with larger diameter tubes. Almost there.

what kind of 21p did you borrow?? I would try a laser II, i bet you could get 4800 to 5000 with it and gain a little top end. you could also try a mirage or mirage plus but the diameter may be a little much, my buddy tried one with a big block and it stomped his rpms
