Help with starter wires!!! Pics attached
2 Attachment(s)
As many of you know I lost a starter at LC Poker Run...Well I had it replaced and last weekend it stopped working agan. Figured I just ot a junk starter and was goin to replace it again. Well when I started pulling it apart I noticed there is a loose wire
1) There is a yellow/red wire and a orange wiure attached that go to the fuse box on side of motor 2)The ground wire is attached 3) The constant ground is attached 4)There is a red wire that runs to the fuse box on top center of the motor that is not attached to anything. this could be nothing but I am hoping the installer just put a nut on loose and this is my only problem. Check it out and let me know. Sorry for thecrappy pics but its tight space in there. |
Anyone????

That small red wire goes with the large red wire that comes directly from the battery. How could it have come off is my question? And you said it worked without it attached? That would power the solenoid mounted next to the reset switch on the motor.Hook it up and see how it goes.

Hooking it up and trying is simpler than it sounds... Have to drop half the left side of the motor to even have access to it... How many wires total run to a starter and where does each come from? You got power straight from battery to the large post etc etc...

Pull the exhaust manifold and then reach in from the top?

Yeh that's what I had to do but them SOBs are heavy and really only want to have to take it off and put it on once

Use a test lead w/alligator clips
|
well if the eyelet is small i would think that it would go to the small bolt

Great Idea

Pulled the starter today and took it to the tester... Solenoid was bad... So I replaced it with a duralast gold that matched it identically and has a life time offer. Autozone only charged me $50 for itand has life tine replacemennt so figured it was worth a try... Installing it as we speak
