Check out videos on other thread I screwed up the html and never knew I created this one. The drive will not even shift when the sifter cable is unattached.

If I unattach the shifter fork under the back plate of the drive and shift it from where that little spring and ball sits onto

From what i am seeing, you haven't pulled the drive off the boat yet. The shifter cable in the gimble housing may be butchered up or even broken. You need to pull the drive off the boat to see if this is your problem.

I had a similar problem cable broke it would go in reverse but would not do anything else. You can switch the cable pretty easy back nuts off pull gear houseing back about 3/4 to 1" just enough room to see what is going on just make sure all o rings are in correct place after slinding new cable thru the cable bellows have a partner with you they are not heavy but not that light either
