I think I will pop out the freeze plugs and us a coat hanger and pressure washer. If that doesn't work I will have to decide if the crossover is worth it.

I have run a crossover on several diff engines in my boat, only issue I had was the early one had no bypass and could run no thermostat and ran to cold, changed to a bypass and a stat..works great...good luck
