Thru Hull Exhaust
I've been thinking about doing this for awhile now and these kits seem fairly reasonable. Wondered if anyone has done this? Any thoughts or comments?
Expect little if any performance increase, just the thru hull sound. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/THRU-...dZViewItemQQpt ZBoat_Parts_Accessories_Gear?hash=item483592548f |
If all you are looking for is more noise, go for it. On your Status I believe it is a tight fit where the exhaust would exit out the transom. Make sure it is a straight shot so that you don't have to have custom elbows made up to get this to work.

Depending on the boat, you may need this instead

All show no go. Mine sounds mean now but maybe only saw a 1 mph increase @ best.

i did before and sounded better but performance isnt going to do anything. It was fairly easy. You just better measure 50 times and cut once. The thing that took me forever was getting the old elbows off of the exhaust manifolds, took me forever. didnt help the engine compartment was a pain. I reccommend taking out the entire back seat. You have to get a hole saw and try to get a deep well one if they have it. Come to find out i drilled from the outside and still had about 1/2in to go, so i then had to go from the inside out and that was a real treat. I have to admit cutting the holes was pretty nerve-racking. Once whole was drilled, its pretty much plug and play. Took me 8hrs to do, but if i were to do it again i think it would be a two hour job maybe three.

I'm in the middle of this job now... I'll keep you posted. Should be done this week! So far pretty easy. One engine to go! Dennis Moore... Nice guy! Nice kit too!

Here's what I have done so far... Just have to hook up manifold Y's to the exit pipe in the hull. Probably using some soft wall marine hose. Here's a tip... to get the old exhaust elbows off, just loosen all the clamps holding it. Then knock the bottom (lower) boot down onto the "y" pipe so it's completely off the elbow pipe... then the elbow should pull straight back off! Key word...should!! It worked for me, after the hour on the first boot!! Only took 5 minutes after using this method! I used a long tire iron and a mallet to hammer them down. A jackhammer will also work! Good luck! I also recommend a long island ice tea before you start!! (I had a couple, but I'm a professional!! lol) Now.... where I put those tools???!!! More pics when I'm finished!
