do a visual inspection first,,chark the side of the block where the head meets the block,thats whare they crack..also make sure the fuel line is plugged on the engine you removed..you dont need fuel spliiing in the bilge whyle the other engine is running..
if both are cracked it would be cheeper to go to michican motors ir eagle engines and get the 330 hp small block..i think their around 2500.00 cach complete ne long blockk with felpro gasket,sheet metal and ballancer..

The approach I took with the starboard engine, if it works, will only run me $1200. The rebuild is $1000, and I spent about $150 on a 350 block from a salvage yard. The rebuild includes new pistons. The cam and crank are in really good shape. The shop I'm using has a good reputation for doing marine engines, so I'm thinking it'll come out okay. They do pretty much the same thing as Eagle. However, this is the first time I've done this, so I don't know what I don't know.
So if the port side block is cracked, I'll use this same approach, if it works okay. $1200 I can swing, $3000 (after shipping) makes it a lot more difficult. Of course it sure would be nice to just make a phone call and have a shiny engine show up on a pallet.

You could also disconnect your hose going out of the water pump and put your garden hose in there. Then remove the belt off the water pump (unless you have a water pump mounted fuel pump. Yes I was trying to keep you from having to find all the broken pieces after the one that has been in there for god only knows how long falls apart.
