Rev limiter on 502 MPI Blue water motors too low?
I just swapped these motors into my 36' Sonic (older stepped hull from 1986).
I hit the rev limiter at 4800 rpm. According to some documentation I found on the blue water motors (full closed cooling) this is factory. Is this normal? I thought these motors can rev up to 5100? Can this be adjusted?
I pulled this from an owners' manual on the motor:
4400-4800 RPM
8.2L MPI
400 1
502 C.I.D.
(8.2 L)
4.47 in.
(113.5mm)
8.75:1
309 1
340 1 (3122)
(2332)

Its a magnum 502 MPI blue water...Definitely hitting the limiter at under 4800 rpm. Motor originally came in cruiser with trannies, dunno if that has something to do with it? So is it worth adjusting, or just leave it alone?
