I used the Polk MM Ultra Marine 6.5" on my last boat. They worked great and it was just a little 16ft jet. The problem with the DB is that they cannot withstand direct water. Because the cone is not sealed, and the tweeter mounts on a pedistal that comes through the voicecoil. When you look at the MM UM, the tweeter is mounted on the grill.

Update:
We were out this weekend and I figured I would put the speakers to the test (waterproof). While jamming the stereo at out local party spot I figured it was time to wash down the boat. With stereo at 1/2 volume I washed (soap and water) the back of the boat and then rinsed, thus completley wetting down the DC Gold Speakers. I experience no issues. These speakers continue to amaze myself and others that hear them. As my Kicker Speakers (in the cockpit) age. I will be replacing with DC Golds!!!
