Winterizing w/ merc trans 2

Is it considered fine to run the boat on antifreeze normally until it comes out the exhaust... and obviously the transmission cooler dump?

Or does the trans cooler need to be drained or blown out with air?

very easy to blow out with air if you can get to eith hose coming off cooler but i would always but antifreeze back in just incase

Yeah its easy to do i just didnt know i read somewhere that sometimes water gets stuck in it and you need to blow it out...

I guess il do both

I always just disconnect the two 3/8" hoses connected to the cooler for the winter and leave it like that. However I do have a friend that runs antifreeze untill it comes out the dump and exhaust and he has never had a problem doing that. Them coolers will split easy.

When I had those MercII trans I always pulled the coolers for the winter and had them pressure tested before putting them back in in the spring. Those coolers where a weak point on those trans and develpoed leaks often.
