Default Winterizing w/ merc trans 2

Is it considered fine to run the boat on antifreeze normally until it comes out the exhaust... and obviously the transmission cooler dump?

Or does the trans cooler need to be drained or blown out with air?

I always just disconnect the two 3/8" hoses connected to the cooler for the winter and leave it like that. However I do have a friend that runs antifreeze untill it comes out the dump and exhaust and he has never had a problem doing that. Them coolers will split easy.

When I had those MercII trans I always pulled the coolers for the winter and had them pressure tested before putting them back in in the spring. Those coolers where a weak point on those trans and develpoed leaks often.
