Being your old log manifolds might be near end of life and you certainly don't want to destory two of these new beauties with an exhaust water leak you might want to consider the change to a nice header or header manifold with a dry joint riser that would probably get these engines up closer to 300HP and some better volumetric efficiency which can translate to better fuel mileage.
Good Luck with your upgrade.

I will consider an upgrade...but do understand...as I said...I plan to keep the log style manifolds...not my actual present manifolds. No way would I put old manifolds on new engines.

Oil coolers. Especially if you're getting the remote filter pieces. See if MM offers the parts to plumb to a cooler instead of just the filter. Not sure which SBCs might've come from Merc with oil coolers, but some poking around on a parts diagram site might help to find a decent routing scheme.

Good thoughts...and thanks. My right index finger is getting a twitch and I am very close to pulling the trigger on this deal.

Looking for a recommendation on a decent shop that can do the install. Most of the guys I talk to are dealing with the Poker Run crowd and don't seem very interested in doing this work....I guess because it is "beneath them" status wise.

I spent some time talking to the MM guys via phone and they have been extremely helpful. I am seriously considering...for about $2k more going with the 357 Mag Mercruiser "turn key" package....still have the y-pipe/log style manifold issue to deal with.

Anyway...looks like 2:350 Gen+ with 3 year nationwide Mercruiser warranty with all of the stuff mentioned in the thread to convert/install including NEW log style manifolds & risers.....delivered to my shop in Pompano next week A~Z.

Not too bad.

As I dig deeper into this project I have discovered this:

The 330 Horse SD replacement power pack sure looks tempting....anyone know of anyone that has used it?
