According to the guys at Michigan Motorz, I have to use a 12 3/4"
flywheel they sell made for the 1 piece main seal crank shaft flange...also I must use this http://www.michiganmotorz.com/mercru...ler-p-104.html

12 3/4" triangle coupler made for that flywheel that will clear the old style bell housing. The regular 14" coupler will fit but will interfere with the smaller bell housing so be careful to get the right one.

With me I am double careful because I am building 2: identical set ups with twin engines.

I used the flywheel from a Volvo Penta. I forget the number on it, but it was from a newer engine. A gm flywheel is a gm flywheel. Just make sure it has good clearance

Unless I change transom assemblies (mine are pre Alpha) I have to use the old style bell housing.

I found a great deal on Alpha II transom assemblies...new in the crate with trim rams...never installed for less than $2K for 2!!!

I have a pair of late model bell housings, flywheels and couplers that will match up to Alpha I or Alpha II

If I move on this my problem will be solved...I'll get a pair of new SEI Alpha II drives.

Otherwise I have to use the smaller flywheel.

Crane 10309-1

Summit sells the kit - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-10309-1/

Alex's Part sells a similar kit for less than half the price - http://www.alexsparts.com/valve-spri...rf-hyd-roller/

I don't know anyone who has used the Alex kit - but did a little searching on the web and most people seem happy with the quality and prices from Alex. I may give it a try...

I quit fighting it...I'm going twin Bravo I's. Got a great deal on near new 2008 Bravo transom assemblies from the swap shop here so I'll be in the Bravo business very soon. I pulled the old 260's yesterday and cleaned the bilge. Going to clean up the rigging getting ready for the Bravo's. You find out what it's all about pulling a pair of 350's out and setting them up on stands in one afternoon.

Hello Lennox60, I did not read the 3 pages of this thread prior to posting, but forgive me if i am duplicating info.

The LT4 Hot Cam is a very dated cam, and there are much newer cam profiles available that will help maximize hp. Check with Comp Cams to see other similar off the shelf cams that are available with lobes more similar to the XER lobe. Im not sure of your setup, but make sure you upgrade springs and pushrods as needed.

Thanks - I have looked at the Comp Cams site. It would be nice to see some head to head comparisons. If you know of any, let me know.
