He is in Byron Center, Mi. Just south of Grand Rapids. I keep trying to get him to go to an LS since I can't in my Baja, but really want to do one. Haha, anyhow it sounds like some of you may know the boat? Here is a picture.

Yup thats the one, I talked to him on the phone today. SBC is a great idea that boat was quick a few years ago. Its had a long road since. It will make a nice boat again with a little TLC!!

PS It is a Predator Mongoose, not a viper. I asked the original owner today.

Mild thunder you spoke of copy the 420hp recipe from merc. Did they just use a different cam in the 454mag to get that 420hp rating out of a stock 454 mag 365?

454 Mag and 454 420 shared the same heads, same shortblocks. The 420, had a larger cam, crane gold roller rockers, single plane intake, holley 800 carb, and GIL exhaust.

The mag had stamped rockers, quadrajet carb, dual plane LS6 alum intake, and cast iron exhaust.

Years ago, 454 mag carb motors were real common. They woke up big time with cam and exhaust upgrades.

The cam is a Crane #132561. IMO I would just stick with a dual plane and your 750 for what your doing.

don't waste time and money testing a 25 year old raw water cooled block. get a 4-bolt that lived it's life with anti-freeze in it.
