Default Rolling Gel Coat?

Has anyone ever rolled gel coat? I'm cleaning up my engine compartment this winter and the bilge is already sort of a pebble finish. I really don't want to sand smooth and gel it, but would like a fresh coat of some sort of finish. Not sure if it is now paint or gel. 99 Baja Outlaw.

Rolling would be less messy.

If it is paint, will gel stick, or would I be best to just re-paint it? I'm thinking the gel would be easier to clean.

I'm sure its gel now, if its original. I would paint it with Awlgrip. Very durable and can be rolled.

most likely its gel,if it is your still going to have to scuff it so what ever you use will stick properly or it will flake off in chunks..you will get alot of mixed answers,me personally like sherwin williams urathane 2 part paint..about 110 a gallon with hardener and its real thisk like gel..they call it a resin ...i use it all the time in the bilge and have had real good luck with it and it will cover in one coat and fill voids and you can bruse or roll it on with a foam roller but if you roll it it will take 2 coats..

I did my bilge two years ago and brushed it on. The biggest thing is the prep work lots of degreaser and alcohol then scuff it well and clean with alcohol again to make sure it sticks good. Mine has been holding up for two years no problems.

Default Thanks

All good suggestions, Thanks again. It's sure nice to be able to get input from people who have done this before.
